Is your server not showing in the server browser?

First thing to do is check here: https://nightly.multitheftauto.com/ports/

(Make sure you type in the correct game port)

If you don't get 3 green ticks, fix that first.

Otherwise:

1) Is this a new server?

  • Then wait 6 hours

2) Have you changed your IP recently?

  • a) See (1) above
    b) Some popular servers have tag protection which means your new IP might not work with the browser search.
(Go to irc.gtanet.com #mta and ask for Dave)

3) Are you doing anything naughty?

  • There are certain automatic protections against naughty servers.
Check all your resources for files that might inconvenience players.
Wait 24 hours after removing naughty files for your server to be re-listed.

4) Have you set the <serverip> setting in mtaserver.conf ?

  • The <serverip> setting should be set to auto in mtaserver.conf

5) Are you hosting the server on your local PC or local network (LAN) ?

  • For you only, the server will appear in 'Local' tab (not the 'Internet' tab)
Everyone else will see it in the 'Internet' tab.
Also, the server IP will be different for you. (Local private IP, not public 'internet' IP).
Everyone else will use the public 'internet' IP.

If nothing listed here works, then you could try reading: https://forum.multitheftauto.com/topic/64400-server-not-showing-last-options-here/

If you are hosting the server yourself and your connection has a dynamic IP address assignment, then there is not much you can do about it.

To keep your server on a single IP address, you might have to rent a server from some hosting company - like the ones listed here: http://www.multitheftauto.com/hosters/

DJ_Shocker, I did some tests and there is something stopping certain 1 byte UDP packets.

Test results were:

1 byte UDP packet containing 's' gave a response - This is the standard query, and one that Game State uses

1 byte UDP packet containing 'r' gave no response - This is what the MTA server browser uses

1 byte UDP packet containing 'x' gave no response - This is what XFire uses

1 byte UDP packet containing 'v' gave no response - This should return the MTA version

Conclusion:

Something is filtering out 1 byte UDP packets unless they contain 's'. Could it be your firewall? Or maybe you had a DOS attack and your hosting provider has blocked these packets - Ask them.

More info:

The last time the MTA master server got a response was 2014-03-01 21:18 UDT. So the blocking started shortly after then.
