Try updating your audio drivers. If you have a separate card, you can get them from the card manufacturer's website. If you have onboard sound, you can get them from the motherboard manufacturer's website. If you don't know which you have, it's likely that you have onboard sound.

okay i have that problem except vc had sound before, i mean for some reason the cutscenes in VC didn't have sounds but it still allowed me to have sfx, and driving/shootings fx etc.

now it says that there is no audio ware found?

please help me as without MTA my com. is pretty boring and another thing, it all of a sudden happened, not like gradually it appered as a problem

Presumably sound works with other things on your pc? So you know its not an actual hardware issue? If so then delete the gta_vc.set file in \My Documents\GTA Vice City User Files\

Note that you will need to re-set and custom control configurations in-game after doign so. A small price to pay for working sound.

deleting the vc set didn't work, and whe i tried reinstalling the game it said that something.../auto.exe is not suitable for running ms-dos and windows apps.

is this a bug, is there a problem, or am i now missing some program to run the sound.

Sometimes when im playing SA, i hear sounds from mission breifing scenes but not sometimes when your phone rings and someone speaks to you in game. The text when that happens isnt like when it happens too. The text will just speed, not like when i got sound, it stays there after someone is done talking... probably something wrong with my sound card.
