when i say start mta in gta game all i get it the credits

In my frantic scramble to rush to a server, I get the same problem. I have used ASE to launch mta.exe. It launches and connects, and when I load gta3.exe and do start Multitheft Auto, all I see is a intro movie.

The credits are supposed to run for only a few seconds... then you appear on top of a building, to choose your team.

Make sure you connect to a server.

btw, the game is sweet.

lag free, and all the animations are very smooth.

(the cryptic X is gone from the hud too!)

I have managed to connect to the server, send the game request, and get to choose the player, but when I spawn all the blips on radar show in the same spot, and no one shows up driving any cars. Whats the deal?

EVERYONE seems to be confused about the people on the roof. who are they? are they peds? are they other players?

both, sort of.

When you join a server, you become one of those people on the roof.

You are then teleported to the other roof, where you choose your team.

Another way to think about it: you are an evil, mind-taking over alien thing.

Those players on the roof are your hosts.

You join the server, and you take over the mind of your host.

Then, by magic, you're transported on top of a building, where you get to choose which kind of other mind-stealing alien things you want to be friends with. (a.k.a. choosing your team)

simple as dat (at least I THINK that's correct... I'm 85% certain that's how it works.)
