orappa
http://www.gamespot.com/news/2004/12/14 ... 15014.html Yahoo! Games also announced the hiring of Patrick Ford and Thom Kozik, both from All-Seeing Eye. Inc. Ford will serve as director of video games products and Kozik will head business development. The deal will also integrate the eponymous game browser from All-Seeing Eye. All-Seeing Eye allows gamers to save buddy lists and to connect with each other when playing online multiplayer games. I don't like the sound of that... Edited December 18, 2004 by Guest Link to comment
Scorp
does that mean that ASE will be packed with ads now? Link to comment
orappa
does that mean that ASE will be packed with ads now? I don't know for sure, but I doubt the money ASE makes at the moment is enough to satisfy Yahoo. Link to comment
ULK!Nick
so i guess this means they'll implement a system for proper subscriptions and only limited trials...mta blue will have gamespy support doesn't it? Link to comment
Mike
from the pictures shown, it looks like blue will have it's own server browser Link to comment
orappa
from the pictures shown, it looks like blue will have it's own server browser It shows the ASE logo, so I'm presuming that they used the ASE SDK for that. It would be nice for Blue to have Gamespy support in addition to ASE support so that people have a wider range of choices. Link to comment
Scorp
didn't they say that you will be able to browse from the normal ASE as well? (some people like it that way.) Link to comment
orappa
didn't they say that you will be able to browse from the normal ASE as well? (some people like it that way.) Well, I won't like it if they turn it into another Gamespy Arcade. I know I said above that I'd like Gamespy support, but that's because certain other browsers use the Gamespy masters. orappa
Sorry about the double post, but I found a thread on ASE's forums where the fans have asked questions to Yahoo representatives: http://www.udpsoft.com/forum/topic.cgi? ... topic=2631 Link to comment
orappa
Sorry for the triple post, but if anyone wants to try out the Yahoo beta of ASE, here's how to do it. 1. In the tree on the left hand side of the window, select Eye Servers > Scanners. 2. Refresh the list and right click the one marked either "scan1.RE2" or "scan2.RE2" and set it as the default scanner. 3. Now go to File > Update Eye and it will update you to the latest version. Scorp
lal I'll save you from the fourth post ;P wow, Yahoo is really being flamed on the official forum, but I think ASE is dependant of a sponsor now. I completly agree with the people in that thread that it should stay the way it is, only introducing maybe new scanners n stuff (heh some people demanded the ads being put in the About box) I'll check it out when I'm home again.
