Guest
hey, i jsut downloaded mta. I did everything right. But, when i try to load a server, it says it cannot detect my version, reverting to 1.0 So i said whatever, and treid to start the game. *1.o not supported* so i download the 1.1 patch, install it, etc. I try again. *cannot detect version, reverting to 1.0* start game *1.0 not supported* what should i do? Scorp
The client is supposed to auto set version, if your using VC then you can use version 1.0 & 1.1, if its GTA III then only 1.1 works. Even though its supposed to find your version it almost always defaults to 1.0, so you should just select the version your using in the client window Link to comment

Si|ent
It isnt supposed to find it automatically, that message was included so people would be aware that it is set to 1.0 by default to prompt them to alter it if neeb be. Link to comment

Couldn't you get it to read the exe file size and determine what version it was? Link to comment
Si|ent
As said before we don't promote the use of cracked vc and gta3 exes, but we also don't go out of our way to prevent it. Link to comment
Scorp
but it could still default to 1.0 when it was a cracked exe, and when detecting a original exe it would set it to the right version. Still this isn't a big problem as people soon find out what is wrong, but you see the question asked often on the forums. anyways I'm fine with the current configuration Link to comment

He said that obviously they never bothered to check whether it works for cracked versions though. Link to comment
