<VMP>Sobeit
if its lan...might not work, but try to goto start(at the bottom)/run/cmd(type cmd)/in the command line write netstat -n then where u see local adress(your IP adress), that should be it, with lan, it might not work Link to comment

<VMP>Sobeit
unfortunatly ipconfig dont work for me, im runnin windows XP, on a compaq system, i wonder why.... do i cmd/ipconfig, or do i just type ipconfig in "run" prompt? Link to comment
dystopia
on the server machine, you can connect to the server by typing "localhost" in the address box, on any other machine you need to type the INTERNAL ip addy of the server. On the server run the afore mentioned netstat -n you should see something like this: the underlined is the internal ip for the computer i'm on now...yours will most definantly be different. Also it was assigned by a belkin router, linksys, dlink might have different, or they could be set differently by whoever setup the network. and yeah, the 172 is aol, so sue me, it's hard to test a server while serverside lol. Robpol86
ipconfig HAS to work. otherwise your computer sucks (cuz u got xp, and ipconfig is in xp). go to run, type CMD. on the prompt, type ipconfig if that doesnt work.. then... you can look @ microsofts site fot wntipcfg or somethign like that. its like winipcfg but for nt/2k/xp Link to comment
Guest
Why are you making it so hard for the fellow?... Just go through the Startmenu; START - SETTINGS - CONTROL PANEL - NETWORK CONNECTIONS. Then you "rightclick" on the "Local area connection" icon. And choose properties from the list. - There you have your network-card configurations. Scroll down until you find "Internet protocol(TCP/IP)", Enter it's properties. Choose, use the following IP address. There I recommand you type: IP ADDRESS: 100.100.100.01 ..(01 is just an exampel, choose between 01-99, and make sure no one on the local network has the same IP.) SUBNET MASK: 255.255.255.0 .... And there ... Just connect to the IP the Host computer choosed. (if you use those numbers you can play whatever game you wich, Old-New-Any!) When I think about it... Perhaps this was more a mess than what the other guys told you... Link to comment
Robpol86
thanks for the topic revival.. uhh.. hes a n00d dude, what you said (if hes still here) will confuse the hell out of him. and then he has to change it back to get internet access....... IP ADDRESS: 100.100.100.01 ..(01 is just an exampel, choose between 01-99, and make sure no one on the local network has the same IP.) nice going on your ip reccomendation. thats a routable ip address....... why didnt you reccomend a nonroutable private ip address? ohh like... 192.168.*.* or 10.*.*.* or 172.16.*.* ?!?!?!?? and the fourth octet can be 1 - 254 with a /24 subnet you provided. just incase you forgot Link to comment
