Tails Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Hi there, I was wondering if it's possible to change the surface type for my custom objects. What I mean is I want the surface to act like it's mud or sand. I got .dff and .col files. Thanks for any help!
TrapLord Studios™ Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Yes by creating or modifying the .txd for it.
Tails Posted February 20, 2014 Author Posted February 20, 2014 Thanks but I wasn't talking about the texturing. You know the beach in Los Santos you get this sand effect when you drive on it? That's what I'm looking for.
xXMADEXx Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 I can't be 100% sure, but I think it has something to do with the .dff.
Tails Posted February 21, 2014 Author Posted February 21, 2014 Okay, so I was looking at the tools that I used to export the model from 3ds Max and found this material option which looks like it could be it. Problem is, I don't know how to get it working, the way it's set up below doesn't do anything. Anyone any idea? I'm using KAM's GTA Tools.
cheez3d Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 If i'm not mistakin, the surface type is stored in the .col file of the object.
Tails Posted February 22, 2014 Author Posted February 22, 2014 That's what I'm thinking too. On the screenshot above in the lower right hand corner it reads "This shader only works with GTA Collision IO". I tried adding the GTA COL Shadow as well and connnect them with the rest but I must be doing something wrong as it's not working.
TrapLord Studios™ Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 Its an effect file, or particle most likely.
Spajk Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 It's in .col, I am 100% sure. Use col editor to change it.
Tails Posted February 24, 2014 Author Posted February 24, 2014 Thanks a lot guys! Using Steve-M's Collision File Editor II worked like a charm!
