MTA Frozen Menu

MichaelWesten

Question

I have stumbled upon a problem with my MTA. Ever since the 1.3.3 update, when I start the game (starts up normally with splash screen and all) and reach the main menu, the game freezes. I can't move the mouse cursor, but when I move my mouse it takes about 30 seconds for the cursor to respond, then freezes again. I tested the keyboard by opening the console (had to wait a while for that to open, too) and the menu froze when I pressed a key, so typing was very lagged as well.

These problems do not occur in any other games/programs. I have not played in a while, so I just re-installed GTA SA and MTA.

I have tried:

Cleaning the registry

Removing all mods (that I could find)

Changing the dpi/hz settings on my mouse

Disabling my antivirus software

Running MTA Diag to no avail

Here is my pastebin: http://pastebin.mtasa.com/322530305

Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

MichaelWesten

The log seems to be from MTA 1.1

Please run MTADiag again and select 1.3 from the options.

Yes I've done that, then it prompts me to install 1.1rc. I've installed it already, yet it continues to try to install 1.1rc. Then it gathers information and gives me the paste in error log.

Might also be useful to share that every time I start MTA it gives me an error message "MTA did not start properly, do you want to terminate it?"

Please install the following:

Provide another MTADiag log after installing.

Installed the Audio and Chipset drivers, restarted computer. Graphics driver failed to install, looked it up and many other people had the same issue. The only solution I heard of was to reinstall Windows. Sadly, that's not going to happen.

Here is the new pastebin: http://pastebin.mtasa.com/672647587

MTADiag still attempts to download 1.1 even though you picked 1.3 from the list of options?

Yes it does. px8p.png

Quick update:

1. Uninstalled MTA 1.3

2. Downloaded MTA 1.2

3. MTA 1.2 had me install 1.3 again

4. Started 1.3 (ran nice and smooth, could move mouse and everything)

5. Then it prompted me to download 1.3.3 patch. Installed that, started it up, got error message (paraphrasing): "MTA may not have started properly. Would you like to terminate it?"

6. Selected "No", it started up like always. Then arrived at main menu, and everything was frozen...again...

7. Ran MTADiag and it wanted me to install 1.1-rc.

I am going in circles. It seems to be everything above 1.3 that doesn't work for me.

Ok,

Uninstall all MTA Programs, then install MTA 1.3 and run it (Don't download the patch yet) then if it works or doesn't work then run the MTADiag, then post the generated MTA:Pastebin URL.

If MTA 1.3 works then run it again and install the patch it prompts you about, after see if MTA Freezes again and if it does then post a second MTADiag here.

This would show us the difference between the 2.

To select the version of MTA you wish to diagnose, you should enter the number between the brackets, not the version number itself. So, for MTA 1.3, you would enter 3. I will add some wording to clarify this for future versions of MTADiag.

The audio and chipset drivers installed successfully. What is the error you get when you try to install the graphics driver?

Here is another update:

I ran MTA 1.3 and let it sit on the main menu for about 10 minutes. After that the mouse was free and I was able to play the game. It ran a little slower than normal, but it still ran.

I was able to run MTADiag and select 1.3 this time. Thanks! Here is my most recent pastebin: http://pastebin.mtasa.com/919715233

This error. Not my picture, but it's the same error I got.

Neither tasklist nor ipconfig will run (see the errors in the MTADiag screenshot). Try this:

Start -> Run -> cmd -> tasklist

Then try ipconfig /all.

Do you see outputs, or do you get the same error messages (server execution failed)? If so, perhaps you have a virus or Windows' services are misconfigured somehow. This may also be the cause of your graphics driver failing to update.
