MTA For all GTA Games

Hi all,

Today/Tonight I was looking at mta archived files, and when I saw a lot of great things what mta offered back then, I was like... "Why don't mta give out all the mods for all the gta games?", yes I know it would be hard, but some people like other games than 1, so since MTA is not like SA-MP (I mean the name), or IV-MP, etc etc...

Why don't we give out different copies of mta for different GTA games?

You can download MTA 0.5r2 here, and I think it is also available in the archive:

As for why there is no further work done on it, this topic should give you a clear answer:

Probably the only proper way to revive MTA for GTA3 and VC would be to port MTA:SA code to 3/VC, then work from there on improving the compatibility.

The reason why it is not happening is the lack of developers willing to work on it. There is also a rather small demand for mods for these games, although many people, myself included, would love to see them some day.

Do not PM me your MTA:SA Client / Server support questions, Lua scripting questions, unban requests or server toplist concerns - please ask them here: MTA:SA Support subforum, here: Scripting subforum, here: Ban appeals or here: Servers instead.

For other inquiries - please expect delays in replies when messaging me.

For the porting part: Towncivilian said "MTA 0.5 is not open source", but if it's possible for me to work/practice my c++ on it, I'm greatful :)

MTA 0.5.x's code is not fit for open-sourcing in its current state. I've done a considerable amount of work in cleaning it up recently (deobfuscation) but it still is a mess structure wise and there are issues with the client when compiled with VS2008. If it were ever open-sourced, it'd likely be somewhat of a rewrite; it'd maintain the core gameplay of MTA 0.5r2, but with all of the surrounding code (client/server, gta interface & hooks, etc) rewritten to allow open-sourcing, primarily for historical purposes and to illustrate how the mod works compared to the more modern multiplayer implementations.

Have problems running MTA or are experiencing crashes? See this thread for help!

When I read the title I think that he is suggesting to have MTA:I, MTA:II, MTA:III, MTA:IV, MTA:Liberty City Stories, MTA:Vice City, blah, blah, blah.

Liberty:Unleashed is a great MP mod for GTA III, MTA is a great mod for SA, and IV+ will be coming out soon. At some point, I'm assuming MTA Orange's code will be put to use in a mod for V. The only main gap is in VC, which currently only has some MTA 0.5 s'ghetti. There is a Vice:Unleashed in the works (by the LU team), but that kinda under wraps.

In other words, learn C++ and get to work.
