Need Help With Handling Lines

Dalton

Question

Hi guys,

A couple of years ago when I used to play MTA, I could install mods no problem and play with them online. My problem is that now, the mods install (talking about vehicle mods) however the handling lines don't work. What I mean is the handling lines work perfectly in Single player but when I try and join a server it says that my data files have been modified. I have already downloaded a patch from the MTA wiki (gta.sa.1.0.4, or something like that). However this just restores the original handling lines, and therefore I can't use my drift handling lines.

Is there anyway I can surpass this step, because I just play MTA to drift and have fun, and I can't do this if it keeps asking me to restore my handling lines

Thanks

Indeed you can't modify your data files, as most servers do not allow this to prevent cheating. However, there is a Handling Editor resource which can be used within MTA to manipulate the handling of vehicles, it's called Hedit. If it doesn't ship with MTA you should be able to find it on the community site. You can achieve the same outcome using Hedit as you would by editing your local files.

Also MTA 1.1.1 is the current version of MTA, not 1.0.4.

I installed TortoiseSVN, right clicked on my GTA directory, checked out with the link provided and the hedit file was added to my GTA directory. What do I do from there to edit the handling lines? Sorry, but I don't have a lot of experience in coding

Yes, you don't need to modify the code in any way. When you start the resource, you can input your handling data entries into the GUI, and save them for future use. You are able to save multiple handling settings for the same vehicle, if you wish, it's quite a good resource. There are plenty of servers using it if you'd prefer to play with others, or you can run it off your local as Qaisjp proposed.

OK, Thanks. Just to be sure I'm doing it right. I go to my MTA directory, find resources, deathmatch and then there's an hedit folder. Do I checkout that with tortoiseSVN? and also, how do I get the GUI in game to show up (which keyboard bind?)

Thanks

What is it with you and tortoiseSVN?

I don't know why you would be using that?

All you need is:

viewtopic.php?f=108&t=30494

http://code.google.com/p/hedit/downloads/list

+ Your eyes and the ability to read.

About the key to open hedit:

Is it B or K thats bound to hedit by default?

B

If you want to play with it on your local server, you'd extract the folder to ...\MTA San Andreas\server\mods\deathmatch\resources. You'd then start your server, and start the resource using /start hedit (you must add yourself to ACL as Administrator in order to start/stop resources, consult the Wiki if you are unsure how to do this).

If you want to play with it on another server, simply connect to a server which has the resource and it will download automatically.
