Apply TXD to select vehicles?

Hey guys,

I was wondering whether it was possible to apply a TXD texture to only certain vehicles, not every vehicle of a specific model. I've found the functions that allow for model-wide application, but nothing for just a few vehicles. I want to have some Buffalos with a certain TXD skin and the rest to act like "normal" Buffalos with colors and all.

Thanks.

You are correct bandi, there's no possibility YET to do this.

You can however replace the car vinyls and select between 3 different textures.

But that only works for the cars moddable in Archangel right?

I don't know to be honest. I thought you are correct indeed. (loco low have vinyls too btw)

I've never done anything with shaders, so I'm completely unsure about what I'm going to say now. So if it's even possible, you could try to enable a shader for just one vehicle which changes the texture. Could anyone inform me and the topicstarter about this possibility?

AFAIK the shader replaces the texture for all the instances of the texture in the whole world

You could be tricky and create a new object which is approximately the same size and shape as the car body/section of car body (you need a small offset, surfaces that overlap exactly usually flicker), attach it to the car, and put your custom texture TXD on that. Not a perfect solution as it will look strange when you open the doors or when the vehicle is damaged, but probably your only short-term option for now. Could be a useful approach for small-scale stuff like adding a decal to the roof or something.

Thanks for the answers folks. What I think I'm gonna do is replace a vehicle I won't use by the modded Buffalo texture. I will also give it the Buffalo model and handling, so I will effectively have two Buffalos models, one with the custom texture and the other one will be the "normal" Buffalo. That should work right?

That ought to work if there aren't any inherent incompatibilities with the vehicle you're replacing. Probably best to pick a vehicle which is similar to the Buffalo, and preferably one which can't receive body-part upgrades.
