0 AGENT_STEELMEAT Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 This isn't the proper place to freak out about your favorite server being down - either do that on CIT's advertisement thread in that section of the MTA forums, or calm down and play somewhere else. I'm sure the owner (Arran I think) wouldn't pull the plug like that.
0 Arran Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 CIT has not shutdown. We are getting DDOS'd so OVH blocked all traffic for at least 8 hours so it may or may not be back on tommorow. What doesn't kill us only makes us stronger. We're investing in a cheap second server so if they want to stop us they'll have to flood two 100 mbps servers.

0 AGENT_STEELMEAT Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Basically, someone unusually jealous of Arran's success/work has gathered a bunch of computers, and is constantly sending requests to the server in order to slow it down/crash it. As a result, the server has been shut down his his hosting company to isolate any effects. Or at least that's what I think - correct me if I'm wrong.

We had bad luck yesterday as our operating system failed to boot on the same day we get DDOS'd lol we have to reinstall everything. Now to hope that whoever ordered the botnet attacks on us and the other servers doesn't bother continuing.
