InsanePyro Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 I can't seem to get a basic LAN server to work. When I stay host game and start it just sits at a black screen. I have tried making all of the nessesary files but i can't seem to get the hang of it. Can someone give me a bit more in depth help? And I can't see any server I make on the LAN menu....is there a port or something I need to unblock?
Gamesnert Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Black screen means there is no gamemode (or resource that fades the camera) started. Try "/start votemanager", then "/votemode". You should get a selection of gamemodes.

robhol Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Then you either screwed up when changing the ACL, forgot to reload it (restart the server or do aclReload(),) or just forgot to log in. The syntax for the login command is: /login Name Password OR /login Password. In the latter case, your player name (options or /nick) will be used as the name.

robhol Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Then it's the ACL. Restart the server and try again. If it still doesn't work, open acl.xml and make sure there's an entry in the Admin group with user.[yourname] in it. <group name="Admin"> ... <object name="user.robhol" /> ... </group>
