Darkend
Hello. I've been messing with this for about three hours now, trying to get MTA DM to work. I'm having a problem where the menu loads just fine, I can use the server browser just fine, but when I double click on a server, this happens: 1. The game goes to the loading screen (the one where there is a GTA:SA character in the background, with the white loading bar.) 2. The loading bar loads all the way 3. The loading screen fades to black 4. In the black screen, I breifly see the city name, "Ganton" at the bottom. 5. The game flickers then crashes to the desktop. No errors whatsoever. I have tried: 1. Reinstalling MTA:DM 2. Re-downloading and reinstalling MTA:DM 3. Un-installing then installing GTA:SA, then un-installing and re-installing MTA:DM Notes: I'm using the latest version (MTA:SA DM Alpha Build DP2.1) GTA:SA Single player works flawlessly. Video Card Drivers are up to date. Using WinXP Pro SP2 GTA:SA is legit DVD version, patched to 1.00 EU I require some assistance to get MTA:DM working so I can get online and shoot some of you foo's! Thanks in advance for the help! Link to comment

Darkend
Yes I have. The known issues do not address this specific issue. Most of the crash/halt problems addressed in the known issues/faq are crashes/halts immediately after the splash screen. My crash is happening well past the splash screen, and instead, all the way into the game, after joining a server. There is a "crash on connect" error in the faq for windows vista, but I do not have, and never will have, windows vista. Link to comment

Scarface
Yes, I get a crash-to-the-desktop after attempting to join all servers. Maybe the cause is some drivers on your pc that are outdated?(not just video card but cpu.... etc.) Link to comment
Darkend
I don't know how it would be driver related, since Single Player GTA:SA works just fine. Link to comment

robhol
What kind of CPU do you have? AMD vs Intel, number of processor cores, Clock frequency, etc. Link to comment

AMD vs Intel, number of processor cores, Clock frequency, etc. I have an Intel Core 2 Duo 3.16 GHz Processor Google for imagecfg.exe and you'll find a nice little app that'll let you set affinity to one core. This put an end to my issues with crashing. If you open the right page, there will also be instructions about how to use it. Link to comment
Buffalo
Same was here; Try to check if compatibility mode for gta_sa.exe is not set to 'win NT'; Link to comment
Darkend
Aha! Thank you, Buffalo! I did not set compatibility mode, but compatibility mode was enabled and set to Windows 98/ Windows ME on gta_sa.exe after a fresh install of San Andreas! Disabling compatibility mode fixed the problem and I am now able to join servers on MTA:DM! Also, thanks to scarface1994 and robhol. robhol, Thanks for the info on that app! I'll be trying that if I have any more problems. Link to comment
Morgfarm1
I just setup and got GTA SA:DM running, and i have a CTD on joining. for about half a second i can see the game map, but crashes. ive already checked the executables for Compatibility mode. any ideas? oh, and i just removed my vehicle modifications. game was initially V2 but i found a downgrader that worked. now 'using' EU V1 Link to comment
Darkend
For me, the problem was with the compatibility mode for the shortcut to MTA:DM on my desktop. I think the shortcut and the actual executable would be the same, but I'm not sure, you might check the shortcut. Link to comment
Morgfarm1
i looked though the forums at different sites, one of the posts said somthing about the D3D9.dll needing to be removed from the GTA SA root folder. i pulled the file out and it worked. however, now and then for random reasons, the client just CTD. i have no reason why (other than my vehicle changes, but they spawn and run fine). i do wish i could use the D3D9.dll because that is the tweaked version that lets you use your lights and engine as you want. If anyone knows a reason why it could do that (and ill browse these forums for a possible fix). unless somone knows one right off. Link to comment
