Well i have to correct myself. There IS a way around the Serial Problem !!!

Manual:

• Download MTA Developer Preview 2 (You can get it here.)
  
• Install it (BE SURE YOU CHECKED "I don't want to create an account")
  
• Open regedit (start > run > regedit)
  
• Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Multi Theft Auto: San Andreas (Or create it if it doesn't exist)
  
• Create a new string key called Username and fill there a random username e.g: Doodle481
  
• Create one more string key called Serial and write there a random serial in the format XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX e.g: HK27-89HJ-UA68-7J8S
  
• Browse a server at game-monitor.com and get the ip and port of the server. Note: Most servers will kick you because you dont have a serial. Only compatible servers (See Server Manual) will allow you to play. The only one that is compatible atm is this one
  
• Start MTA and use "Quick Connect" to connect to the server you got the ip and port from
  
• Have FUN!

Server Manual:

• Replace the resource "admin" with the one you can download here
  
• Run your server as usual

Feel Free to post your server ip and port here if you made it compatible!

but I want to know what I need to set up the server that I create so that I can play it and another colleague in my local area network (LAN)?

when I try to play it, says Serial Invalid.

when I enter the server that I create, even after I replaced the admin.zip then from above, he speaks Invalid serial and the game does not start ... why?

The Invalid Serial output in the chatbox is just there to inform you that a user has joined that has a non-valid serial.

If the screen just stays black you can simply type /votemode in the chatbox and select a gamemode/map you want to play. If you just want to change the map use /votemap instead.

This WOULD be a nice fix, however both of those servers are empty...

Perhaps we can find some no serial servers and post here?
