that means that his serial is banned and he can´t play anylonger with his current account - on almoast all servers ^^

It's built into the admin resource. Basically they are either cheaters who are trying to use False serials, or they are someone who made a mistake modifying their serial for any number of reasons. Basically, they need a valid serial key to play MTA.

It's not just to do with a banned serial.

I own a server and get it when joining if i boot into Vista and try to connect. I registered deathmatch in XP.

invalid serial does not neccessariely mean that you're banned. many people had got a problem that they didn't get any serial. the newspages says it works better now, give it a try

yes, for example my friend never could play mta dm because he couldn´t get a serial ^^ -.-

It's because soemthing went wrong with their install or they chose not to attach an account to the mta install, so they don't have a serial.

lil toady made a topic somewhere where those w/o a serial could requst one, tell your friend to check it out.
