Newbie Question...

I was wondering if it was possible to simply Co-op with a friend and just explore the game, etc. riding in the same car and driving around creating chaos...one person flying one plane while another flies their own...etc.

You mean play with a friend just like you would on any MTA server, but with nobody else on the server?

Yea, for example me and a friend want to play (just kind of like 2-player for the PS2 version). Except now I was wondering if both of us could do all the things (except missions and other storyline things) like driving different vehicles (me in a car meeting up with him going somewhere on a helicopter). Running around all 3 cities shooting NPC's and other crazy things...just fun chaos like that. I was doing some light research here at work and couldn't find a definite answer to this. I appreciate the feedback.

No, there aren't any NPC's, just synced players. Putting in NPC's is something they'll look into in the future.

Ah, I see. Thank you very much for the response. That has always been one of my (and countless others) to play GTA with more people. Keeping my fingers crossed, they will allow it in GTA IV.

If you want you can host your own small server from your comp to play with your friend. It might have lag, unless your close. But there is no being on foot (yet)
