I launched MTA for the first time, but I cannot get into a server.

I just downloaded MTA and I was trying to join a server with my friend, though it says "banned by MTA; reason: BYE" and I cannot figure out why this is, there are no malicious DLLs or any software that would interfere with MTA, and this was my first time starting the game. I tried joining multiple servers, but it keeps saying the same. What could this be?
