NazcaC2
I have a modem who splits my internet connection to 2 different computers. I think you mean't a router or hub. You need to open ports on the router to allow incoming and outgoing connections. The ports to open are listed in the Help section. Link to comment
Jani
It's possible he doesn't have a router or switch, there are devices such as offered by my ISP called "dual connectors" which simply plug into the modem and allow 2 computers to connect to it. He probably has a firewall or something. Link to comment

0815-racer
If you always have the same ip, it's static. If your ip changes it's a dynamic ip. E. g. here you see your ip: http://www.whatsmyip.org Edit: Check if you have portforward correctly: http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Thomson-Alcatel/SpeedTouch545/MTA_SA_R1.0.htm Edited April 20, 2006 by Guest Link to comment
