    Is it possible?

    Yeah, that would really be a BIG benefit for flexebility, well I doesn't have to be 4.5gb, imagine if the scripters can just start with a empty map, and then download ressources to add cars, skins etc, the modified "game" wouldn't be that big, don't you think? I mean, as it would be just a platform (at the beginning) for developping gamemodes, it doesn't need the original SA map, but ofcourse, you could download a ressource to have it, same for cars, weapons, if you want the ones from the original game . I think we can get the best out GTA SA, to me it's the best platform to build an online dev platform for any kind of gamemode: Stunt, Roleplay, Deathmatch... Everyone would be really happy to have such a platform but well, it's just a suggestion, I don't know if MTA devs are still fully into MTA SA development, I really hope so, and I think it could really make people pay more attention to our prefered SA Online mod! EDIT: I'm pretty sure the MTA team can do that, let's just hope they aren't planning to develop a mod on GTA IV, this would be such a waste of time to me, this would take years till Rockstar gives their source code, and I don't think they'd ever give them anything because of the new platform they got. Let's just finish things that been started on GTA SA, and as I said before, it's certainly the best base for building this kind of online gamemode dev platform.

    Is it possible?

    It's just my dream but I wanted to know if it could be possible somedays: Is it possible that rockstar gives MTA SA Dev team their FULL source codes then it could be reworked as the greatest development platform, I don't know if you know what I mean, I mean that there wouldn't be any distance between the MTA client and the game itself, it means that we'd be able to modify things of the game, the number of objects ID, animations, custom players models (then maybe we could have many "CJ's" which means many "customisable peds"), increased player limits, add weapons and cars ids (it has been done actually, it's possible with SA Limit Adjuster by Alexander Blade or some like that), it would be the best developping platform ever for any kind or type of free game, and as GTA SA is a pretty old game right now, and well I wondered if it's possible that Rockstar Games would let people rework totally their genius' game by making it a free and total open source platform in close collaboration with MTA SA dev team which already have some source codes. Here it is, just wanted to tell you about my dreams hehe, MTA is already a great platform at all.

Well good idea for the setPedAnalogControlState also, it would be cool having peds drivings cars and vehicles serverside and, and, it would be cool being able to tell peds to enter vehicles without having to "warp" them into vehicles, just make them enter a vehicle as a player do (opening door etc).

    Player Limit

    Well then, for example a player is getting out of the "Downtown Los Santos" server area and comes to another area, could the server change without the player actually seeing he changed of server? For example he's driving a car from a server 1 area to server 2 area, will he stay in the car without seeing anything? It would be like a kind of streaming.

Well I agree, but Rockstar have a big and experienced developing team, so the development of a game doesn't take long for them + it's their job making that kind of things, and as MTA is the free thing, I don't think the MTA team have the time to spend their life on it + we don't have the source codes that could help the development of MTA:IV.
  8. It would be a little bit like in a Need For Speed game, being able to set drift tires etc... Just a question though, does it change the handling of one car or just all the cars (like if you change the handling of a turismo car does it change the handling of every turismo in the game)?
  9. Very nice function, I think it's gonna create a bunch of nice opportunities, like a new possibility for tuning garages: being able to buy kits to improve your cars speed (engine kit etc)... and it's gonna be possible with that function, that's awesome really.
  10. if long time means 2 hours then i agree If you think making that kind of things only takes 2 hours, then you probably don't have any idea of the time it can take, look at MTA:SA development, it took alot of time and I can't imaginate IV's one and if it's out before the next GTA episode then i'll post myself dancing Soulja Boy's superman dance on Youtube.
  11. I meant using setCarVelocity for limiting the car speed we don't want to see them driving @ 250kmh in a downtown street...

Hey, As far as I know, it isn't possible yet to have ped driving vehicles server side, and i'd like to know if it will be possible somedays and if it will be possible to make them follow realistic path (roads, highways) etc realisticly as they do in the real game, make them turn corners realisticly, stop at traffic light, driving at a given speed (50kmh for example, well I think it could be done with setElementVelocity repeated many times or something like that).
  13. oh. Then, could you explain me how to calculate the angle of the bone (for example, the hand) because, I have really no ideas of how to do that.

Well just select another dimension, and then just build your own map, just use seabed objects and the "CreateWater" function and you'll have your own world.

    MTA and SAMP

    The main problem of MTA comparing to SAMP is the lack of gamemodes diversity. Actually you can find 2 or 3 very interesting servers with original scripts like the Trials server or the FPS mod server but too bad: most of the time, there are no players to play on it

Well I really hope this isn't going to happen because I think MTA SA still has got things to improve and it would be stupid to slow down the progress of it when it's actually going good for now, we're seeing more and more interesting things every week, please do no give up. And in my opinion, I don't think making a multiplayer mod for IV would be good as it actually doesn't work like the GTA III era GTAs (GTA III, GTA VC, GTA SA) and it would take along time to make something that's actually better than the original GTA IV's multiplayer mod, and even though it's not that good, i'm not sure either MTA and GTA:MP team would be able to make something that could be equal to it in the following years (sych etc), well that's just my opinion.
  20. Well I must say this knife "behind the back kill" is kinda annoying in MTA as it's to easy to perform. Maybe a function could be made to disable this. Like disableKnifeSpecialKill or I don't know.

Well I've suggested this many times I know (i'm annoying) but I think the getPedBonePosition function has limits, it would be better in my opinion having the same function as the .scm original gta sa's script, it would be like attachElementToPedBone and attachElementToPedBoneOFFSETS because, it would allow scripters to attach anything they want to the player's bone (Well I've seen SA-MP done that with SpecialActions but their function isn't generic, you can just attach bottles and a cig/joint) + with offsets we could attach burgers, pizzas, wallets, cellphones... to player's hand etc. I think (if I'm wrong i'd like to know how to do) this is not possible right now with the single function we got. Well I hope you guys will think about this, sorry for my English it's 4.41 am here and i didn't sleep (lol) and if you can actually do that, I'd be damn happy . Thanks for your attention.

  23. Well it could be possible if developers include the possibility to have object animations. Infact that's already possible to script basketball by moving objects, but that wouldn't look really realistic, object animations would do a better job for it.
  24. I already suggested some of this stuff on the forum but I didn't get any reactions from any developers. Will we ever have functions like this on MTA: "set_object 1@ animation "BBALL_JUMP_SHOT_O" IFP_file "BSKTBALL" 1000.0 lockF 0 loop 1" This is pretty much the same thing as for player's animation, but here, it's for objects, for example, here, it's a ball bouncing. So what about a "setObjectAnimation" function? "070A: AS_actor 358@ attach_to_object 359@ offset 0.0 0.0 0.0 on_bone 6 16 perform_animation "NULL" IFP_file "NULL" time 1" This function does a way better job than the current MTA function getPedBoneFunction... This function automaticly attach the objects to the bones, and in every angles (I heard the one in MTA can only permit to calculate two angles) plus you can set offsets. What about a attachElementToPedBone function? "Object.CollisionDetection(0@) = True Object.Throw(0@, 23@, 24@, 25@)" The first function will enable physics on objects, like if you place an object in the air, it will fall on the floor, if it has cols. and the second one, I'm not pretty sure about it but, I guess it throws the object somewhere, and it looks realistic, like, it makes an arc in the air just like if you were throwing an object. I also found some functions that I don't understand the use of, maybe these are interesting, maybe these are not. "059F: get_object 1@ velocity_in_direction 2@ 3@ 4@ 05A6: get_object 1@ rotation_velocity_about_an_axis_X 5@ axis_Y 6@ axis_Z 7@ through_center_of_body " I think this is a code to make the ball make an arc in the original game's basketball script. the first function is similar to setElementVelocity I think, but the second one looks (maybe interesting). As I remember I've seen a function that allows you to open/close parts of the vehicles (doors, trunk etc) I think it would be cool too. MTA Dev. Team has done so many things so far that nobody exepted and I guess adding these won't be hard job, I hope I'll get reactions here, see y'all later. PS: For those who don't know, all the functions I listed are from the main GTA SA's script main.scm.
