Uh oh, dp1 serial system didn't get cracked in 2-3 days, not even 2-3 month. You mean DP2 right? cause DP2 was released a week after DP1 Ok, so, what's the difference? what was your comment about?

There is a much more advanced way in mta, yet disabled for some reasons explained on the forum many times. And no, you will never get access to read/write files anywhere outside resources folders, very bad and insecure idea. Unless you want server owners to be able to make scripts that can completely break your OS.

There's the new serials system, you can login in the mta client and will get assigned a serial which you can futher view at http://dp3.community.multitheftauto.com/ (Don't look at the 'dp3' in the name, that's just a temp address) 'BEFORE VERSION 1.0' means that the function has been removed, more likely replaced with some better variant.

No idea what you said about releases and preview, but you should probably read known issues at wiki or explain your problem and ask for help in help section

You should not switch to the nightlies yet so the auto updater is not needed. It is not yet a stable release and people that are not interested in development/testing should stick with dp2 atm.

It's not like a name switch is gonna delay anything. And i believe open sourcing will speed things up, we already got two nice active developers from community who are helping alot, i suppose more are coming

Lua is not going to be replaced eh. If you want some other scripting language you can easily do a 3rd party module for that. Always could. I know at least two done, one works with AMX (PAWNO), second with PHP

Of course we aren't stupid. The network module is not open sourced so people will not be able to play games they compiled on servers we released.

there are no names, the only argument the function takes is the value, 0-255 if i remember right. This function is used to change things like hydra thrusters angle, packer platform angle, etc. Also if you could, would be good if you documented the function on the wiki, at least some basic info

Is that statement official? ( You know someone was gonna ask, ) It sounds like it's too hard to make... But well, we'll see if it'll come. Shouldn't be hard at all, by now with our scripting you can already link all the data, chat, or whatever between servers, what we need to add is only a function that redirects one player to another server.

/me slaps brophy The progress bar really wasn't accurate but it's been there years ago, i suppose he was speaking about the changelog thing we had not long ago. It stopped working when we went with a new build system.

you can not change the /login command anyhow as it's hardcoded, as a part of all the ACL system. Yet you can change the /register command, this one is somewhere in admin resource. (Though removed in the next release)

In MTA's case it's recommended to use the in-built accounts system. Everything relies on it in MTA. Then you'd need setAccountData to save anything, right? But didn't that delete accounts.xml? I know this should be fixed in DP3 in whatever function this was the problem, but I just wanted to give some advice for DP2 for now. You can save your stuff anywhere you want, still using mta accounts. And it does not delete accounts.xml if you check for guest account before setting account data.
