Andy_1984 Posted July 8, 2005 Posted July 8, 2005 hello there, i work with visual basic 6 and as your aware i made an application for voice chat in games, after a response from one of your forum members about cpu usage i tested my app to check and found that my method of notifiying the user of who is speaking, joined, left caused alot of cpu usage (50%) i have tried several places before for an explanation of how to create a directx overlay and no one has answered so i was forced to use a windows popup for my method. but now im forced to update the app to stop the high cpu usage and again looking for dx overlay how-to in vb6. i hope one of you knows the answer cause im desprate just to make things clearer: dx overlay is the same thing that mta does with its chat screen, i need somthing similar to be displayed on screen for as long as someone is speaking or xx seconds
darkdreamingdan Posted July 8, 2005 Posted July 8, 2005 as far as i know there is NO way of doing a DX overlay in VB. for example, gtac was being coded in VB but they had to do the dx overlay in C++. You'll just have to link it in with C++, id reccomend using spookies speedo mod source which can be found at http://www.gtaforums.com
Vicer/Spitfire Posted July 8, 2005 Posted July 8, 2005 I need Visual Studio 6.. I'm about to learn VB
