I'm helping a user on GameFAQs and he needs help

Well, I guess I have a question. How come when I try to start a game(after I have already connected to a server and everything) I get an error saying one of the ports is not open. Never have I ever had this error whenever I tried to play online before. What can I do to fix this?

He really needs to give more info. It sounds like he's using something like Norton Internet Security. It's probably easier to direct him here rather than acting as a go-between with another site.
