Server setup hanging under linux

Hi, I'm trying to setup MTA under linux but when I run ./setup it just hangs... does nothing whatsoever... can't even CTRL-C! I have to close the session (or screen) and then kill the process.

I'm trying to run it on a PIII server running Debian Sarge with all the ncurses libs installed. Oddly, if I run setup on another server with Debian Sarge & the same ncurses packages installed then it runs fine!

Has anyone any ideas? I've been trawling the forums for ages looking for someone who's had a similar issue but can't find a single one :(.

Any help greatly appreciated as it's getting kinda annoying now! :x

Sorry, I meant the setup program in the tarball. I've tried the .bin file but that doesn't run either.

...of course I just assumed that the server wouldn't work if the setup program doesn't... and I've just discovered I'm wrong! :D. A manual configuration of the .conf file and the server starts up fine, so no need to run setup.

We haven't spent as much time on making the linux installation and setup utilities compatible with all linux distribution versions as we spent time on actually making the utilities. Different systems have different setups (distro, distro version, kernel version, etc.) and unfortunately both utilities aren't compatible with all systems.

So if the installation/setup utility doesn't work for you, you'll have to download the .tar.gz archive version of the dedicated server and edit the configuration manually.

The utilities were indeed both compiled (and made) on an i386 system running Debian Sarge (Testing).

Ok, thanks for the info. As I mentioned, the server works fine with a manual config so things are looking ok. I'm just trying to figure out why the setup prog won't run when it's running. Any chance of a full list of depends so I can see if I have anything missing?
