Why other servers make a custom Account system

As you see from the topic Title, why other servers making up a custom account system what it's for?

optimization(handle more accounts), web related(mysql), multiple servers using one db(mysql), saving non account related data, easier to move database to a new server, etc.

Using a custom account system has a lot of pros. First one, it has more performance. Second one, it's easier to control/edit. Third one, you can export the information to webpages, etc... Why don't you take first inspiration of systems that use a SQL DB?

Here you have a system that saves data based on serials: (SQL)

Both are using a SQL database, enough inspiration if you ask me.
