Is there a way to remove the default MTA login and registration messages?

There is no registration message, only login. But no, you can't remove that hard-coded login message.

I once managed to remove them through cancelEvent on onClientChatMessage (client-side) by checking for prefix - eg.

  function(message) 
    if message:sub(1, 6) == "login:" then 
      cancelEvent() 
    end 
  end 
)

Does onClientChatMessage even trigger for such messages?

This event is triggered when any text is output to chatbox, including MTA's hardcoded messages.
