What I did was I uninstalled both GTA3:MTA 0.3b and MTA:VC 0.3rc2 and then installed 0.4.

I then went into ASE, and it detected that they had been removed and so I clicked "Yes" to remove them from ASE's list. I then went to View > Options > Games, scrolled down to Multi Theft Auto and clicked Auto-Search.

I'd suggest that you uninstall all versions of MTA (including 0.4) and reinstall 0.4.

i thought of that too. so i uninstalled the old version of it.

then installed the 0.4

With regards to this error:

and when i click config.cfg in the mta client it says

"MTA:VC config.cfg could not be set because your GTA:VC Game Path is NOT set.

Please set it now and try again"

You need to click Reset Game Path to sort this out. I get the impression that the uninstallation process didn't remove everything that it should have done.

Damn, there i was reading ur prob hoping the solution would appear!

I`m having exactly same prob, tried everthing and been at it hours now.

It seems to me the asi isnt recognising the new file. I too have tried a fresh install of vc. Also tried re-installing asi in hope it would auto find it from fresh.

Please anyone if theres two of us having this prob there`ll be more to come!

I have no other patches add ons or anything other than mta version 3 which works fine, ive tried leaving it off and just installing version 4 from a fresh install but makes no difference.

The only thing i can see thats dodgy is the fact that its trying to use the old file path as i had it installed on a seperate drive from the 'c' drive before. However when i try to reset the path it still says its wrong. I`ve tried pointing it in the right direction a few different ways but the version 4 mod doesnt actually show up at all in the asi games list and sub folders.

I`m lost, heeeeeeeelp us

Right i sussed it dude.

Get rid of old vc mods. Reinstall version 4 to the vc pgrms folder and not to a seperate folder.

Then do wot jonchappel said, go to view/options/games and click on muti theft auto and click auto search, this will find the mta client.exe, select, click ok and close the box.

Then go to the list of games and click on muti theft auto then the folder that says other and refresh and find a game.

Try to enter the game and it will prob say ur game version cud not be determined or its incompatible.

just click start game and a window will come up and need u top point it to the right file. click on gta-vc in that folder and the game should start.

Hope this works for u cus the games looking cool now
