Fatality[NL]
Hello, I just have a small question: I would like to know what the best OS is to run MTA on, - Linux Ubuntu 32 or 64 bit, - Windows Server 2008, 2008 R2, 2012, 2012 R2, - Windows 7, 8, or 8.1? also, what are the hardware(CPU and RAM) requirements for 32 slots? Wei
I would prefer Linux Ubuntu 32 or 64 bit. I think that you should have at least 512mb of ram for 32 slot server! Link to comment
Anubhav
I suggest 8.1 . I have it and its very fast. Link to comment
Fatality[NL]
currently running Server 2012 R2, server edition of Win8.1, runs fast & stable, but windows uses a lot of RAM(600 MB, explorer.exe only), when server is idle(not working on it). I guess there is not much of a difference for MTA itself? Link to comment
Noki
I suggest 8.1 . I have it and its very fast. No, not running MTA from your client. Running a dedicated server... I recommend using Centos (Linux). Linux servers always perform faster than Windows servers as Linux (except for Ubuntu and its children) are command-based and have less of a UI. That conserves vital CPU usage. But, if that is too complex, Windows Server 2008 R2 should do the trick. CIT uses that, and they have 1000+ players. Link to comment
Fatality[NL]
well, running a Linux server with CLI only is not too complex.. learning CentOS might be though, as I only used ubuntu and Debian before.. Link to comment
intronet
I would suggest you to try our VPS.We will setup MTA servers for you in your VPS because all our VPS are managed! We have many operating systems,So you can re-install your server with any operating system. But currently we don't provide windows servers. Also we will make sure that there is no Lag or Slow Download in your server. Fatality[NL]
I was interested in an OS to use, not in a VPS Link to comment
