What do you suggest would make a better alternative? Almost any other free forum is better in terms of basic security. SMF before phpBB would be considered. Personally, I don't use free forum softwares anymore. They're typically junk and get spammed easily.

MTA Team Blokker_1999 Posted January 10, 2014 MTA Team Posted January 10, 2014 nothing is secure, vBulletin got hacked about 2 months ago and thousands of boards were affected. phpBB has come a long way and is today a lot more secure.

Quite recently, on CSG's IPB forum, we battled a wave of low-paid Russian workers. IPB isn't free, but we are now bot free. It's not the forum software really, but the verification before you register.
