Guest
My computer died on me a few months ago and I haven't played MTA since and now it is working again so I attempted to play. I was using the All Seeing Eye thingy to log onto the servers with and that's what I tried to use this time. It would list all the servers but whenever I attempt to join one it times out. Is there something I need to do or change to make it work. Sorry for not searching around for it before posting but I'm high and want to play. Link to comment

Guest
I thought about that but the thing is I used to be able to do it a few months ago with the same setup I have now the only thing that has changed is I added a Wireless Access point and I'm using 128 bit WEP encryption on it. I wonder if that could be the problem Link to comment
dystopia
might try connecting your broadband connection to the pc via wire and see if it still does it, wireless seriously hinders gaming at times Link to comment
Guest
Yeah I should try that. I have no problem with other online games and I tried to play MTA with a Dial up and I had the same problem. I Like your name. I really like the band Dystopia if that's where you got it from. Link to comment
dystopia
yeah, if the encryption was wrong, then you wouldn't even be able to connect to post on these forums, unless maybe the access point has a built in firewall (?). And thx, actually I got the name from a song title from Apartment 26, but Dystopia is a pretty good band themselves. Link to comment
Guest
Well the encryption is fine and I'm not using any type of firewall on the access point at all or any firewall on the router. The only firewall I have is the Norton one that I never had a problem with before. I even tried turning it off and its the same problem. I was thinking maybe something changed since a few months ago that I have to change to fix the problem with the game itself but I could be way off. I haven't updated anything since then so whatever version was out then is the version I have now. I forgot if I have to run Vice City first or the ASE first. I just ran the ASE becaue I remember being able to be in the chat part without playing. The only problem I had back then was every once in awhile getting some type of unhandled exception error that crashed it. When I get off work I'll mess with it some more. What is the name of the file I should get to update MTA so it has the new games on it and stuff? Link to comment
Guest
I got home from work and got the new version of MTA, unintalled the old one and installed the new one, now and what happens exactly is ASE tells me the server is full or unresposive no matter what server it is and no matter how many people are in them. It will give me an option to either cancel or force connect. If I choose 'force connect' then I get the "Disconnected: Connection timed out. (Delay = 10 sec)" message after a while. Has anyone else had this problem and fixed it? Link to comment
dystopia
well, i'd say it definantly has something to do with that acces point. it is possible since wireless lags a lot, the time from the router, to the access point to your pc, to the access point to the router is simply too much and it causes it to time out. Guest
I'm going to try and wire it tonight and see what happens. Link to comment
