server problem

hi, i am trying to make a aserevr for my computer class at school. I have read all i can read and i knnow how to do everything but there is one problem, when we go to join the game we get in , but we can never see eachother, its like were all in difrereent empty servers. has anyone ever experienced this? or does anyone know waht could casue it?

i duno if this hepls but heres some info

server and clients running win2003 enterprise edition

use the search option and look for port fowarding. At a guess you're school's LAN is behind a firewall. Or talk to your network administrator.

I'm not going to explain port forwarding as HEAPS of topics have been posted regarding this...

May I suggest to stop playing games at school and pay attention to your English teacher...(Read your own post and find you why) :wink:

Actually im at a specail university/high school, and im taking CIS. And in this class were aloud to do watever we want, the clas gets boring i play games :P, im only 16 and they think i wont play games, HA, but yah it isnt port forwarding because its only in lan, i can only think that 2003 has built in securiy that sstops it, but the MTA server is on 2000 , i jsut remembered that, and only like the 3 of us wanting to play have 2003. Ill look into built in firewalls and such. And noones tested mta on 2003? i geuss its only been out for a while. When I get home ill try if a client win2003 works i havent tried MTA at home yet, or on other servers. And ill see about server.
