How do I get the game to run without it being installed?

I install my games on an external HDD as I switch between systems alot and I lack internal space on the laptop but MTA says the registry is missing so cannot launch.

Just wondering if there is a work around? Thanx.

Run the installer, and when asked for the MTA installation directory, point it to the external hard drive.

Problem is when I unplug the external drive and uninstall MTA I get the same result.

Can't the actual folder path be built into the launcher and not the registry?

No. This isn't a light portable application.

Just leave MTA installed. You would have to install it on each system. It is not a big footprint. Point it at your GTASA install on the external. What is wrong with that?

I just wont play then, the only game I've had a problem with so far, I don't like registry crap on some of my systems as I always install on one and transfer the files over. As soon as you start installing loads of things it leaves loads of crap when you uninstall in your registry and I cannot be bothered to go through deleting one by one.

Why are you worried about "crap" in your registry? It doesn't matter how many entries are in the registry. It's a flat database file, size or amount of entries does not slow anything down.
