Hello guys,

So you all should know my computer sucks so I'm thinking of buying a new computer and found two ones and I don't know what to choose.

The first one costs 499€:

Operation System: Windows 7 Home Premium - 64 Bits

Screen: LED 15,6" WXGA 1366 x 768 pixels

Processor: Intel Core i5-480M - 2.66GHz( Turbo 2.93GHz )

Cache: 3MB L3

Memory: 6GB DDR3

Hard Disk: 750GB SATA, 5400rpm

Graphic card: NVIDIA GeForce GT540 1GB - Dedicated memory ( At least it says so )

Sound: HD Audio

The second one costs 469€:

Operation System: Windows 7 Home Premium

Screen: LED HD 15,6" Acer CineCrystal - 1366 x 768 pixels

Processor: Intel Core i5-450M - 2.40 GHz

Memory: 4 GB DDR3

Hard DIsk: 640GB SATA

Graphic card: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 1GB - Dedicated memory ( They say so too )

Sound: HD Audio

They both are Acer computers. I think I should go to the first one, what do you think guys?

( I only don't know because the graphic card, if they would be both equal I would not need help )

Ok, thank you for the information. I'll go with the first one. I also saw some videos yesterday and by the way it seems very good for everything: Games, Work, Movies. It's just that Acer has a problem with speakers but it is easy to solve it. I just don't understand why the hell Acer did not fix it.

That's precisely what I have meant. It's up to you, but desktop pc's are usually cheaper and easier to maintain and upgrade. Laptops are less powerful, but are smaller and portable.

Yeah, that's the problem: Desktop are cheaper and easier to maintain and upgrade but I can't take them with me. This laptop is cheap compared with other places and it has exactly the configuration I need and I can take it with me but it will cost a lot to upgrade it.

I think I will really go with the first laptop, it's the best choise. I don't have much money to waste in a new computer so I can't buy a better one. This is enough for me.

Hi,

I was going to buy the first laptop but then my friend told me that was better to get a laptop that would cost more but I would not need to buy a new one in a year than paying less and after 1 year buy a new one so I found this one for 699€:

Windows 7 Home Premium - 64 Bits

LED HD 15,6" - Resolution 1366 x 768

Intel® Core™ i7-2670QM - 2,20GHz (Turbo 3.10 GHz)

L3 6MB Cache

4 GB - DDR3

500 GB, Serial ATA 5400rpm

NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M 2GB + Intel HD

Would I need to buy a new one in a year or two or would this one run actual and next times games?

Well, 1366 x 768 this is my pc resolution anyway, this one is much better than my computer performance

Resolution 1366 x 768

Processor: Intel® Core2 dou CPU E7300 @ 2.66GHz (2CPUs)

RAM: 3.37 GB

VIDEO CARD: NVIDIA GeForce GT 520 2GB

and i got 2 windows on 1 PC

Windows 7 Home Premium - 32 Bits

Windows XP service pack 3 - 32 Bits

so, i vote for this one

but i recommend you to buy a desktop computer , why, because when the laptop getting hot, then you getting lag

the desktop computer is upright computer so the air could join through the holes, all you need to get the best performance, is let some cold air eases the hot devices

Windows 7 Home Premium - 64 Bits

LED HD 15,6" - Resolution 1366 x 768

Intel® Core™ i7-2670QM - 2,20GHz (Turbo 3.10 GHz)

L3 6MB Cache

4 GB - DDR3

500 GB, Serial ATA 5400rpm

NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M 2GB + Intel HD

but I'm wondering how free space is this PC you going to buy ?

What do you mean by "free space"?

Anyway, I was trying to find a Core i7 Quad Core because Dual Core may not be very powerful for the amount of applications that I normally run.

i told you the processor is not about the model, you get the best performance when you let the cold air in

It does not matter, a Dual Core and Quad Core is not the same. Dual Core w/ HT is good but maybe not very powerful for the amount of applications that I run. It is about the model too. You won't get better performance if it's totally cold, it only gives the maximum it can.

Anyway, I'm going with the Core i5.

I don't know if I should choose this one:

Intel® Core™ i5-3210M - 2,60GHz (Turbo 3,10 GHz)

4 GB - DDR3

750 GB, Serial ATA 5400rpm

NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M - 2GB

Or the first laptop from the main topic.

What do you think? This is the last choise.

+200€ than the first one but this one has more things, the only thing here is because the RAM and HDD, from 6 to 4GB and from SATA to Serial ATA would if affect much the performance?

the RAM is about the "games" , so it supports you to get the best game performance, but you told that you run many of applications at the same time, the processor is the important part in this issue as much as you say, so you'd need to take a look at the processor first , what processor is much better than the other between them ?
