Help starting MTA SA with WINE (Ubuntu 12.04)

Question

Hello,

I am trying to run MTA SA (the latest one) with Wine 1.4 on Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin.

Single Player GTA:SA works good and I could even completely install MTA SA. But it does not launch, when I try to launch it it shows a white window for a few seconds and then disappears. I tried everything stated on MTA wiki to fix MTA SA not starting.

Has anyone else tried this?

I had this same problem a month or so ago - I launched MTA and I just got a black screen with weird 4x4 (seemingly) blocks of pixels, that were white and blue. When I moved my cursor, they changed position. No idea what caused it, or what the solution is - I just formatted onto Windows.

Jaysds1: You could search for a solution: search.php?st=0&sk=t&sd=d&sr=posts&keywords=Ubuntu

Thank you for that, I have to enter a command every time I restart Ubuntu. But still it works :D

Thank you all, the reason behind MTA not starting with Ubuntu 12.04 was that in this version Ubuntu disabled the ability of one application to access another for security reasons which can be disabled by a root command.

echo 0|sudo tee /proc/sys/kernel/yama/ptrace_scope
