FPS drops, freezes

Question

hello, first I want to start by saying that I play MTA for around 5-6 years now, i've switched about 4 pcs during those years.

i'm now running amd 955 phenom II, gigabyte gtx560Ti, I get alot of fps drops in race DM modes. my rig runs games like battlefield 3 / metro 2033 with no problem, yet, MTA lags for me..

these are not heavy lags, but lags that disturb me enjoying the game, FPS drops gets me killed often for example.

I wanted to mention this started a few updates back, on 1.2 they almost never happened. besides, back in 1.2 video memory available was 1024MB, while now the maximum is 256?

I am not the only one to experience these lags, I play in a 200 players community (players from different servers) and 80% of them experience FPS drops and game freezes now and then, things that really makes gaming harder for us. especially on a game like san andreas who doesn't require too much from your PC.

thanks for reading, I hope to see some answers from MTA devs.

Do you think turning Asynchronous Loading on would be effective?

It might improve the smoothness on your MTA, try it...

Try playing around with the settings to improve your gaming.

lol, ok, lets see how it works from the beginning,

Delete the gta_sa.set located in your "My Document\GTA San Andreas User Files"

that made my settings go default (800x600), but the game runs 10 times smoother now (maybe its the lower reso?) when I switched back to 1920x1200 it lags again

ya, I have the same resolution problem but I still use (800x600), I only use this resolution (1920x1820 ) when I'm making my server.

Please apply the latest nightly patch:

https://nightly.multitheftauto.com/?mtasa-1.3-rc-4100-latest

Play MTA until the freezing starts, then set this option:

Settings->Advanced->Debug setting->#6934 FPS

Continue to play for a few minutes, and then exit MTA.

This should generate a file called 'timings.log' in your MTA install directory. Please upload that here.

does it matter on which settings I play? maximum settings would be fine? or high reso with no AA, please let me know i'll try to do this check asap

update: Resolution: 1920x1200

Draw Distance 100%, brightness 100%, volumetic shadows on, grass effect on, aero desktop enabled, fx quality very high, AF 16x, AA 3x, aspect ratio 16:10, opacity: 100%, asynchronous loading: ON.

got only 3 freezes in 20 minute gameplay, latest nightly is much better!

thanks for your help, and please leave this topic open as i'll try to update if any problem occurs :)
