SugarD-x
Looking at the scripting board, it says "All Lua scripting topics related to Multi Theft Auto". Why not change this to remove the word "LUA" since it's a board that refers to all versions of Multi Theft Auto, or add "mIRC and" before the "LUA" part? 0.x doesn't use LUA [yet] and it seems a bit unfair to discriminate against it when many users still use it. I know many will say the mod is dead, but it should be pretty obvious by now that it's not true, and considering many of the SA 1.x boards converted existing III/VC 0.x boards over the years to reorganize the forum, it would only make sense to give them equal treatment instead of continuing to push them farther apart. On a side note, although not recommended because it isn't as powerful, mIRC still can be used with even the current version of MTA:SA, so I don't see why even those very few users out there can't be supported as well. Towncivilian
While you have valid points, there are probably less than 2 people still around who know mIRC scripting, much less the intricacies related to MTA:mA. Anybody trying to use MTA LUA Admin for 0.x can post in the specific 0.5r2 subforum for support. Link to comment
SugarD-x
Regardless, they are all still supported and it seems highly unfair to be separating the community like that...especially in a category of the forum that is meant for all versions of MTA, not MTA:SA specifically. The mod's demise was because of a lack of support, not because ASE went down. That was just what started the problems to begin with. That doesn't mean they should continue. Link to comment
darkdreamingdan
We already find it difficult to sustain the volume of Lua scripting support to give, mIRC is risky. More importantly however, mIRC scripting has and is likely to confuse new users to Lua. It gets particularly complicated when you think of MTA:mA for MTA:Race. Link to comment
SugarD-x
Well it's not like you'd get a lot of requests for support either, but it would still make sense to support them since they are there, and MTA offered it at one point. I see your issue though. I'm not so much saying going all out and saying "hey, use mIRC". I just mean if they show up, let them have a place for their questions Link to comment
karlis
anyway, that section should allow HLSL discussion/problems aswell. Link to comment
Discord Moderators Zango Posted September 14, 2011 Discord Moderators Share Posted September 14, 2011 HLSL is the language the Effect files/shaders are written in. It's a good suggestion. Maybe a number of subforums in "Scripting" for each language related to MTA (lua, hlsl, mirc) Link to comment
SugarD-x
Not a bad idea to be honest. If the moderators are unable to help users with that scripting language, it's not like they are forced to reply either. Anyone could come along and answer a question for them. Link to comment
