MTA Team Blokker_1999 Posted August 5, 2011 MTA Team Posted August 5, 2011 Who can find the longest route with driving instructions on Google maps? Some simple rules: - Only 2 waypoints (start and finish) - Only google maps links allowed - Do not use coordinates but use named locations as start/finish. - Kayaking is allowed One example : http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=Nordk ... flg=ht&z=3
eAi Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 Khulna, Bangladesh to Cape Agulhas, Western Cape, South Africa - 25,261 km, 14 days 11 hours I'm not sure if that's beatable, at least not by much. Google's routing across country boundaries is very inconsistent.
zerb Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 I thought I had a brilliant one from Lisbon (Portugal) to Vladivostok (Russia - though pretty much on the boarder of North Korea). I blame the route partly to the Himalayas! or the Google error which appeared..
MTA Team Blokker_1999 Posted August 6, 2011 Author MTA Team Posted August 6, 2011 eAi, it is beatable, i have gone up to 29400km with 58 days. Z3RB1AN, google maps does indeed miss a lot of stuff. Mainly border crossings but also entire countries. I doubt you would have made Vladivostok simply because google does not seem to like russia. Also a route like that would be instantly beaten by simply starting from south africa, as eAi demonstrated google maps has crossings between Africa and Europe.
MTA Team Blokker_1999 Posted August 10, 2011 Author MTA Team Posted August 10, 2011 http://maps.google.nl/maps?saddr=Cockle ... pd&t=h&z=3 29.449 km,58 dagen 7 uur
