Our server running at 130 players take around 200 - 300MB RAM. Unless he runs some pretty heavy scripts I doubt it's going to be 300. More like 100. I wouldn't recommend running more than one server on 256MB anyway (specially on VPS). How much more is a 512MB VPS?

If the VPS isnt powerful enough, at any time, you can always upgrade the VPS package to one with more RAM using Update / Downgrade options in the panel without loosing any data.

You could also contact us and we can quote you a VPS to your needs.

I don't think that the player count has such an impact.

It has for us, the more players, the more data needs handling. Especially since players tend to clump up.

Anyway it's a matter of scripts.

How many players do you plan on having? I'm not sure on bandwidth usage of smallish servers but CIT which peaks 230 players in the day and probably doesn't go much below 80 at night will have used that 250gb in 1 day as it has done today.

I don't think the average server will use 250gb in the whole month though.

250 gb per month is much for a server with an average of 10 players.
What about an 70 players server. Is the 250gb bandwidth enought?

70 slots server, or are you confident you will have 70 players?

250GB per month isn't sufficient for a server with 70 players. But this really comes down to how much your players clump up and how much download you have. I wouldn't say 250GB is enough at least.

70 Players is a lot - you need to have

1) Luck

2) Several good scripters

3) A Script people actually want to play.

I know many people who are good scripters and don't have any players, since they didn't hit the nerve.

Compare it to russian roulette: you have an idea, but will it shoot?

I made CIT mainly on my own. What you really need is:

1) A vision

2) Motivation

3) Determination

4) A bit of money

5) Security paranoia

6) Experience scripting

7) Leadership
