MTA - SA:MP

WRobN

Question

I played both multiplayer mods.

Why isnt there a server on MTA that reaches about 200 players?

MTA servers are under 50 players mostly.

Why?

whats the big difference?

I almost dont see DM servers listed in MTA.

why?

Can someone plz make a honest reply on the big difference between MTA and SAMP?

I dont mean functionality, but concerning to lag, player ammounts etc...

Is SAMP more popular because of... i dont know .... tell me....

It seems that nowadays people only want quantity instead of quality. I must be one of these old school gamers that like to only mix with only half a dozen people. I suppose were all different and who am I to judge when technically SA is such a huge map the numbers make complete sense.

This whole MTA/SA-MP will always be back and forth because one minute people want one thing and then the next they see something on the other side of the fence so they all jump back. It really depends on the product that is distributed to the whole GTA community. Everyone will have different opinions though personally whilst SA-MP might have the numbers right now in terms of activity, I do believe history speaks for itself that MTA is more of a household name.

I played both multiplayer mods.

I played SAMP for about a week then tried MTA, that was about 3 maybe 4 years ago now when dp2 was out. I never looked back.

I plan on changing that this year.

whats the big difference?

From what I've gathered about the 2 multiplayer mods, SAMP was out first which meant everyone played it and they got attached to it I guess.

why?

Too many people try to make RP servers.

By looking at game-monitor the total players on SAMP would be about 5 times more than that of MTA. That doesn't make SAMP better because its obviously not if you've tried both. The player count of MTA has been rising a lot recently and will continue to do so with future updates, something I heard SAMP doesn't get much of these days. One reason why SAMP supports more players is because its a lot less well synchronized meaning less bandwidth requirements. Though MTA SA will support a larger max player count in its next release than SAMP ever will and hopefully the next release will contain bandwidth optimizations to make hundreds of players in one server possible.

If I’m right RACE was released before SA-MP’s DM. I could be wrong however since I don’t follow any other modification development. I suppose in the end people started becoming anxious about any release due to the setbacks on other parts of the project (due to people were generally losing interest in VC and wanted a new era in SA to begin), which was why when people heard of another DM elsewhere, people jumped border.

Actually there's some DM gamemodes.

Tactics, Basemode, Stealth, Deathmatch, TDM (Team Death Match), CTF (Capture The Flag), cod4mod (COD style DM), Interstate69 (A car DM) is what I can find. But I'm sure there's more of it.

The most crowded one is Basemode right now, though most were arabians, but surely you can play there without problems.

The max amount of players in 1.0 is 128, but in the future version of MTA SA (1.1), you can place much more players, around >500 players if I was right.

I agree to Arran, that MTA SA's syncronization is much better than in SA-MP, at the cost of having less players in 1.0. :)

Well, first of all, SA-MP can support 500 players max, MTASA 1.0 series can support only 128.

Isn't easy for a server reach 100 players, but isn't difficulty too... (when my www.mtasa.tk was famous, I couldn't enter to it because it was full in players! 128 players lol)

Another thing that made SA-MP famous is his name, we all know that, anyway I will explain it again.

When you browse in Google a Multi-Player modification, you browse, for example, Need for Speed Most Wanted MultiPlayer, and we all know no one will put "multi for speed most wanted", just if you are bored or if you don't find a multiplayer modification with the first search.

The same thing happens with MTA-SA, people browse in google "GTASA MultiPlayer" and SA-MP appears.

I'm so glad, because, today maaaanyyyy new players entered to my server to ask "Is MTA better than sa-mp?", and finally they loved MTA... (some of them said "SA-MP SUCKS!!!").
