Char at digit x

Hi, i'm looking for a funktion like for e.g. charAt in Java

where you can retrieve a character at a cetain digit -

for e.g. which would retriev me 'e' when i say give me

the 2. character of "Hello".

I would use it for a little search-algorithm for strings.
