Guest
Hi, After setting up a local LAN server here at the gaming center I work at, I noticed, that even though it's LAN only, people lag a little. There was an advanced section in the .conf file, will tweaking those settings make the game run smoother for the clients? Bandwidth isn't a issue because it's only a LAN server. Regards, Egil. Cray
Actually, those Advanced Settings would hurt a LAN environment, so do not use them if you are only doing a LAN. Those settings are in place to limit the amount of traffic that the Server will produce. Essentially, these settings are just a safe-guard in case of a bigger problem. I do not know why you are lagging, but I highly recommend you comment out (add #) in front of ALL of the Advanced Settings, as the LAN environment does not need them. Link to comment
Guest
Ok. They are commented out atm. It seem to lag quite a lot when people are shooting at each other, but not really when they are just driving. The server has enough resources (2000 ghz, 512 mbram), and there is never any more then 10% resources in use. I have made very few changes to the original .conf, only things like server name and remote admin pass and I also disabloed ASE support. Link to comment
Cray
This is surprising to hear. Many of the Server's that run MTA without lag are running system much less powerful than yours, and not in a LAN environment. Are you sure it is "lagging", or is it just it isn't as smooth as silk, which is actually a limitation of the MTA Client right now, not the Server. Link to comment
Guest
Yes it is most likely a client issue. A system running winxp, 2.2ghz, 512 mbram, geforce 4 ti, how high would you recommend going in terms of resolution and such? Edit: I was thinking more in the lines of; does GTA take up more resources with MTA:VC running then in normal single player? Link to comment
