Steam GTA:VC

I'm aware theres a topic already about SA steam problems but I am wondering if theres something different about vice city. I did every thing the SA topic said to do and i am still having problems. I have vista to if thats another problem but i renamed the .exe file but it asks for gta-vc.exe not gta_vc.exe unlike SA that does ask for the _ not the - then i turned off auto updater with steam and it should work but when i select the gta-vc.exe a message comes up saying Failure Detecting version of Vice City. Aborting...

See, this is why I don't use steam. I would rather just buy a hammer and smash the bejesus out of my computer. Same difference.

The problem with the steam versions of GTA is that they are patched and have a new version number. Our software checks that version number but does not know it since it is not in the list.

Is there any fix? A way?
