Guest Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 I'm no wiz in this field, so spare the technobabble, but is it possible to support special characters in the ingame chat? talking about like äåáàæþð etc. Be it with some server or client script, or any other workaround.
XetaQuake Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 yes pleas, i am german and its realy not easy to write german without Special characters like ä ü ö ß
Guest Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 True that Those who are not from a special country like us don't know how it feels not having those special chars A part of our alphabet is litterally stripped away from us We're talking about few extra bits in network traffic per char if unicode is implemented, it's worth it imo No comments from a friendly dev or other insiders?
FireBlood Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 I agree that special chars should be supported. They SHOULD be disabled in nicknames tho, because people who use them are always hackers who dont want to be kicked.
Guest Posted January 27, 2008 Posted January 27, 2008 Indeed, I can live with that ;P But sooooo... no answer from devs? I would take a "No" for an answer and just walk away, or a "maybe", or even "I dno"
lil Toady Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 Lua doesn't natively support unicode though afaik
