ok, i have a few problems, and a few questions. when you play on lan does there have to be a dedicated server running? can you join your own dedicated server? and also, what is the deal with the error "address family is not supported"? that error comes up when i try to send a game request thing. ive been trying to get this to work for some time now, and its getting frustrating. any help would be....helpful.

dedicated server is the only kind as of yet.

yes, you can join your own dedicated server, from the same machine.

error 10047.. address family is not supported...

that's a tough one.

No one really is certain of a fix, although there are a few people who say constantly reconnecting works :P

Try re-installing GTA3, and MTA.

It's possible it has something to do with using win 98/ME... the only thing there would be to install a different OS, but I wouldn't bother unless you REALLY want to play this (and right now, it's not really worth installing a new OS). The next versions should fix that.

i forgot to tell what my specs were, 1 gig athlon, 20 gig hd and 80 gig hd, gf4 mx 440, sb live, win xp pro. thanks for the info about joining my own server, but when i go to create server it just sits there "Listening...". what does that mean?

i have tried pretty much everything that i can possibly think of......heres what i am doing now to try to start a lan game with 2 computers, mine and another: open up MTA v0.3b on the other computer, open the gta3 launcher on mine. once gta is open i click the start multi theft auto thing. it sits there scrolling the credits, i minimize, click send game request on my computer to the others ip address and it has the address something not supported error. is there something i am doing wrong, has anyone succesfully made a mta lan game at all?? if anyone reads this who has, please post the steps in what you did from start to play. thanks.
