Brophy
You need to connect to the admin port, not the client port and you change the server name in the server config file Link to comment

Brophy
You can use the dns too, if the ip matches.. Only thing you have to remember if the server is on the same pc as your own then use 127.0.0.1 or localhost Link to comment
allah-cool
I have the same problem.... Username : Password : Host: 81.157.222.146 Port: 22126 Connection Timed Out But the thing is, I can connect with 127.0.0.1, but then only I can play on the server.... and the server does not appear in the serverlist. P.S Delete the thread I started called Admin 1 Link to comment
Jani
Some (most) routers won't allow you to connect to local services using your external IP address, therefore you either need to use your local (LAN) IP address (normally starts with 192.168. or 10.0.) or the loopback address (127.0.0.1). The loopback address is basically an IP address which is assigned to the local machine and will ONLY work on the local machine. For example, 172.0.0.1 is my computer but ONLY to me, 127.0.0.1 to you is your own machine. The local or internal IP will only work for computers on the same local network (if they are plugged in to your router). In order for people on the internet to play on your server, you need to open the correct ports on your router. Check the link in my sig and have a look at the bottom of the page for a guide on how to do this. You can connect to your own server with either your loopback or local IP, other people must connect to it with your internet IP. Link to comment
allah-cool
Thankyou for the advice, it is helpful. However, when I used my address which begins with 192.168, I manage to get the server up and running - but other people cannot join the game. Which ports must I add to the exeptions list on the firewall? Link to comment
