Urgent Problem!! *Fixed Yesterday now back again*

Well yesterday i re installed my version of mta 0.5 and everytime i clicked start game it asked me to find the game, so i clicked anywhere in the little window it said to look in and then all of a sudden NOT RESPONDING so i tried again and then my friend who was ova tried a different way by finding some text file in the mta folder and typing in where my version of vice city was and that worked... now today since something was corrupting my version of mta i had to uninstall it and install it again. so i did and now the same problem but my friend isnt here and i cant find the text file to type in... can someone PLEASE help me eigther find the text file (i remember it having something like location: ect....) or make mta not crash when i am looking for the game...

please.. help... me
