Guest Posted June 10, 2003 Posted June 10, 2003 ive been looking around about gta3 and im wondering how ppl are making mods like multiplayer seems to me you would have to modify the exe to do so, since there isnt any kind of mod development kit. I'm familiar with writting proxies to intercept keystrokes and change directx output. But to do something like multi theft auto they would need more then that, im guessing they are using a program like IDA to reverse engineer the exe to find memory locations ?
TermNL Posted June 10, 2003 Posted June 10, 2003 no, mta works like a trainer. we did not make any modifications to the exe itself. But we do need somebody who is good in directx, we need to overlay text in gta3 (for ingame chat) Could you help ?
me Posted June 10, 2003 Posted June 10, 2003 I believe it's based off the GTA3 admin console... it just sends all the location data between the computers. Admin console: http://www.estetiksoft.de/gta3console/
Warlord Archon Posted June 10, 2003 Posted June 10, 2003 That is exactly how the YaMM multiplayer mod started out I believe.
