Problem starting MTA

Now I've looked through all the help topics and try multipl thing and there must be something simple im doing worng. After is installed I try to open it says:

Multi Theft Auto 0.5 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Any one have an idea whats going on?

Well another thing is I went on my Dads computer and downloaded it and it opened up fine. Is it a possibility that I dont have a certain driver installed? Because I have had it installed on with computer before a while back and I had to do a system restore.

And the last question is could it be because of my Antivirus or my firewall settings?

I could be firewall or antivirus, drivers don't usually affect you opening programs unless they run in D3D/OpenGL etc.

All I can think of is something blocking the program. You may also need to have the .NET Framework installed to run MTA, though I'm not sure. Also, you are on Windows 2000/XP right?

Yes I do have Windows XP on my computer and I might need .NETFramework on my computer to open it?
