Guest
Hey guys, So here goes. If I leave anything out, let me know. I have been playing MTA:SA since the release without any problems whatsoever. The game has never crashed on me before. The other night, I go to launch MTA, and I get the typical "quit playing with yourself" screen. Initially, I would get an error reporting tool that stated it couldnt contact the server (Im guessing the error reporting server). I then attempted to run the single player game, and had a similiar result. The game would attempt to start in the fact I would get the spinning CD cursor icon, the CD-ROM would spin up, but after a few seconds, the icon would disappear, and the game wouldnt even load, no errors at all. Frustrated, and in need of a reinstallation anyways, I reformatted/reinstalled, and did my normal windows update, drivers, etc, etc. I then dropped GTA:SA in, installed, and attempted to run singleplayer. Same deal, no loading, no errors. I then installed MTA to see if the errors would replicate in the same way. I get the splash screen, but this time, no error console. So at this point I am at a total loss for words. Is there any known issues with X800 series cards and maybe the new ATI Catalyst 6.2's? I am willing to try anything and everything you guys might be able to think of Link to comment
Ryan_
I had the same issue, fixed by deleting thr gta_sa.set file in user folder. problem happened multiple times, but not since marking .set file as read only....... edit, and come to think of it, i never had this issue before updating ati drivers to 6.1 Link to comment
Guest
Ryan, You are totally right, that is the one thing I forgot about. I reinstalled windows and copied the contents of my My Documents folder back over, thus putting the problem right back. I deleted the set file, and it works great now. Thanks for the tip! I would suggest this goes to the wiki Link to comment

Leviathan
I allso had this problem, but it was something with my DVD player firmware. becouse after I installed 1.01 (wich improves DVD sync) it worked, so I knew my DVD had some syncing errors and after a long time of searching finally found DVD firmware.
