Guest Posted October 5, 2005 Share Posted October 5, 2005 i am trying to play both gta3 and mta with gta3 but as i am playing the game will constantly studder, or it gets jerky every 5 seconds. i have my video card updated i have the play cd copied to hdd the game is updated i tryied it at different resolutions including 640 X 480 ive tried tinkering with frame limiter and frame sync i have a p4 3.0 2048 mb ram ddr 400 1 tb hdd space PNY nvidia geforce 6800 ultra creative 5.1 sound card Link to comment
Slothman Posted October 5, 2005 Share Posted October 5, 2005 i see no reason for it to stutter with those specs, other than another app running in the background taking up a lot of the system resources. you should look into what other processes are running. Link to comment

The GTA3 engine draws everything, even things you can't see, so it can be a real performance hog. It was fixed in VC but it's a pity that they didn't patch III. It seems that some systems are affected by this problem more than others. I'm not sure why this is. Link to comment
erorr404 Posted October 5, 2005 Share Posted October 5, 2005 I used to get severe fps drops and the problem turned out to be because of the sound settings. Try setting the sound in GTAIII to Miles Fast 2D Positional Audio or Creative Labs EAX and see if it goes away. Also try defragmenting your hard drive if you haven't done so in a while. Guest Posted November 7, 2005 Share Posted November 7, 2005 ok i have bought san andreas and it too stutters in 2 second incriments. ive called thier tech support but they couldnt help. im thinking it could be the sound card does anyone else have a sound blaster live 5.1 card and maybe win 2000 Link to comment
